A few days ago we exclusively informed you there is a great likelihood that the handset which we met as the Motorola DROID BIONIC at CES 2011 won't be the phone that's going to see commercial release with the DROID BIONIC brand.

Confirmation now comes from Motorola (quoted by WSJ) stating the launch of the Motorola DROID BIONIC will happen in the summer. What we saw at CES (the Etna) will not be released, replaced by the enhanced model (codenamed "Targa"), taking its name - the Motorola DROID BIONIC.

Although the Motorola Droid Bionic release date has not yet been finalized, the company tweeted to its clients to hang tight since the Motorola Droid release date is scheduled for the coming summer. The Motorola team is currently working on a number of new updates for the device as Motorola dismissed reports of vaporware.

The dual-core Motorola smartphone was initially introduced during the Consumer Electronics Show last January by the chief executive of Motorola, Sanjay Jha. The initial projected Motorola Droid release date was for the second quarter. However a few months after the initial announcement, the Motorola Droid release date was postponed by company to the third quarter.

Report Indicate Summer Motorola Droid Bionic Release Date

One user has indicated that he will purchase the Samsung Droid Charge if the company will not give the users an idea of the Motorola Droid release date. Following this comment by the user, the company indicated that the Motorola Droid release date will be scheduled this summer.

According to Travis McCourt of Morgan Keegan, it is necessary for the Motorola Droid release date to be finalized before the iPhone 5 is released by Apple.
